About RTK4Charity
RTK4Charity brings together three companies, RTK Ltd, 3A Firm of Accountants and Seasus who have extended their professional competencies to collect funds through Facebook for Church institutions offering support and other related services to various sectors of Maltese society.
The three companies are also committed to donate part of their earnings back to society, as part of their corporate social responsibility. We want to invest in the lives of people to help them live a fuller and meaningful live.
Since December 1994 RTK Radio has always been on the forefront to create an awareness and collect funds through its annual fund raising campaigns during the Christmas season to help families in need and Dar tal-Providenza. RTK Radio has so far managed to collect over €5 million.
Through this initiative and with the help of our new partners, these campaigns are now being extended throughout the year and given a new dimension. We want to create an ongoing process that would support and enhance the services that are currently being offered by Church institutions to various members of Maltese society.
We firmly believe that we should shoulder some of the responsibility and participate in the Church's mission to offer security and other support services to those who seek support. RTK4Charity is determined to help in the creation of a more caring society that would contribute and in the process, enhance the potential of those who seek its support. Please help. Your contribution will make a difference.
Charities Supported by RTK4Charity
Dar Sagra Familja
Dar Sagra Familja offers a home to those children, boys and girls, coming from problem families. It is run by the Sisters of St Joseph's, and offers accommodation to about 20 children from 2 years onwards. Some of the girls remain in residence at Dar Sagra Familja until they leave to get married. The home is divided into two apartments.
Children living at Dar Sagra Familja receive holistic care. They are given all the support they need to receive an education and build a solid future. The home is hoping to provide professional services to those under its care to help integrate better in society.
Ultra-Rider Project
My mission is to put some altruism in all the long hours of cycling against the elements of nature, till now, just seeking myself. I am committed to cycle from London to Paris, 500 km, in 24 non-stop hours and a week after, 720 km with 5000 metres of climb in Switzerland in 28 non-stop hours. I have teamed up with RTK4Charity, which is the Corporate Social Responsibility Unit of RTK 103FM radio station. Together we are going to raise awareness and funds to help the Children’s Homes in funding their noble project. I have personally been to one of the homes, and have heard experiences and have been touched by the stories. I am determined to put all my energy in preparation for my challenge in full dedication to this project.
Preventive Care
The Preventive Care Unit forms part of the set up of the Commission for Children’s Home known as Ufficcju Ejjew Ghandi. This unit helps families within the Diocese of Malta who are going through various difficulties. This aid helps these children to remain living with their respective families instead of having to be admitted into Children’s homes.
Emigrants’ Commission
The Emigrants’ Commission was set up in 1950. During the past years when refugees started arriving in Malta trying to find shelter on our island, the Commission also became responsible and is now known as Emigrants’ and Refugees’ Commission. For many years now refugees in Malta have been helped in many ways. Protection, basic needs, accommodation, recreation and schooling are sympathetically dealt with.
Home for the Clergy
The Dar tal-Kleru (Home for the Clergy) is the Home for the Clergy built by Mgr Salvatore Grima, inaugurated on the 8th May 1964, to serve as a retreat house and residence for priests, especially elderly clergymen. The Home caters for 50 residents and is run by a Director and members of the association called Qaddejja taċ-Ċenaklu and a number of volunteers.
Families in Need (Gozo)
Another entity which benefits from RTK Radio’s campaign in aid of Families in Need is the section within the Diocese of Gozo, aimed at helping several Gozitan families going through both social u medical difficulties. This aid supports these families, and avoids the need of children having to be sent to live in Children’s Homes.
Dar tal-Providenza
Id-Dar tal-Providenza was founded by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi in 1965 . Mgr Azzopardi had a dream of offering a home with a warm and family-like environment for persons with disability, who for some reason or another couldn’t remain living with their own family. At the moment Id-Dar tal-Providenza houses 104 residents between the ages of nine and eighty years. It was built on faith in Divine Providence; hence its name. It needs three and half a million Euro each year.
