Born in Victoria, Gozo, Attard was educated at the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Victoria, at the Gozo Major Seminary where he studied Philosophy and Theology, and later at the University of Malta, where he completed a BA(Hons) in Theology in 2011. Since a very young age he showed avid interest in Maltese language and literature, making him the winner of the Anna Muscat Azzopardi Prize in 2001. He has been contributing numerously to local publications, to which he contributes regularly with articles and translations. Francesco Pio Attard is also the author of various poems, many of which have been published on local magazines, and is one of the young members of the Għaqda Poeti Maltin. At the early age of seventeen Attard had already published a series of short devotional poetic stanzas in a small book, Il-Litanija tal-Qalb ta’ Ġesù (2002), and in 2006 he co-edited the hagiographic volume SAN ĠORĠ. Furthermore, Attard has often been involved in the production of books and other publications. Since a very young age, Attard has been engaged in radio broadcasting, first on Calypso Radio and then on RTK as well as on community radio Leħen il-Belt Victoria, presenting various programmes.
